With an estimated budget of €429 million, The Count of Monte Cristo is the most expensive French film of 2024
Tale
After escaping from an island prison where he spent 14 years wrongly accused of treason against the state, Edmond Dantès returns as the Count of Monte Cristo to take revenge on the men who betrayed him.

When Albert watches Hydee sing and play the guitar, it’s very obvious that he doesn’t even touch the strings half the time.
Well, it’s a great piece of cinema, the actors perform well, the scenes are well-crafted, and the music is top-notch
However, for someone who’s read the book before, much of the actual story is not only missing but heavily modified.
Some of the original characters are missing and are grouped into one new character (Angelel)
This is frustrating and the main reason it’s an 8 and not a 10, but I guess bringing a 6-book story into a 3-hour movement isn’t that easy.
The 3 hours feel like 20 minutes, with good romance, fantastic costumes, great action scenes and drama
So, if you are not a fan of Dumas, go see it, you will have a good time!
