Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now lives in the Bear Retirement Home. As the Brown family moves on, a thrilling adventure begins as a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. Paul King, the director of the previous two films, decided not to direct this part. However, he pitched the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer. 'Paddington in Peru (2024)' is not as good as Paddington 2 (2017), but it is not as big a step back as some early reactions led me to believe. For the most part, it is still a fun and pleasantly polite experience that is as enjoyable as it is sharp. While the standard adventure narrative is less distinctive than the vignette approach of the first two pictures, it still works well enough in this context, allowing its charming characters to continue to be engaging even as they take on the classic sequel. are taken out of their natural habitat to explore the protagonist’s still-unknown origins. Funny moments abound, and the film is good-natured from the first frame. It’s a truly great film, and sometimes that’s all you need. Compared to its predecessors, it lacks a strong emotional core. While its few moments are touching, the piece isn’t particularly moving and won’t bring tears to your eyes. Additionally, some of its character work is rather superficial and, as my brother pointed out, almost feels like an obligatory adjunct. The narrative is generally quite conventional, following a specific formula almost all the way through. It’s rather predictable and feels rather generic, almost as if it was adapted for Paddington after its basic beats had already been laid out. Despite some issues, there’s still more than enough to like about this feature. Its charming cast is as strong as ever, with some excellent newcomers (Antonio Banderas and Olivia Coleman) happily chewing up the scenery whenever necessary. The special effects are consistently good, believably bringing the eponymous bear to life in such a way that it’s strange to think he’s never in the same space as the other characters. When he’s not making an appearance on the red carpet, it feels like something’s missing. The film is light and lively; it really flies and is generally a lot of fun. It’s chock-full of visual and dialogue-based gags and jaw-dropping action sequences that will knock you off your feet. It’s a really good time. Ultimately, this is a perfectly respectable addition to its series, well-made and entertaining. It’s a shame it follows Paddington 2 (2017) because there’s a debate to be had as to which is the better, or at least the more universally appealing. – picture of all time, because it really is a beautiful family film. If you’re expecting the best movie of all time (again) or even the second best movie of all time, you’ll obviously be disappointed. But it’s a solid effort that captivates and entertains in almost every scene. It’s much better than many at similar prices. If you’re not expecting a miracle, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
