After living a life on the outskirts of London, Rona tries to come to terms with her troubled past. In the hope of healing, she returns to the wild beauty of the Orkney Islands in Scotland, where she grew up. This is the first time the film has been shot on Papa Westray, an island off the coast of Orkney.
My body is a continent
I grit my teeth in my dreams like tectonic plates. And when I blink, the sun flickers. My breath pushes the clouds in the sky and the waves roll onto the shore in time with my beating heart.
Lightning strikes every time I sneeze
The headlands of the islands rise above the sea like my member in a bathtub. My pijamas are famous landmarks and my tears, rivers. And when I have an orgasm, there is an earthquake.
A beautiful film with fantastic acting, especially from Ronan
One With the Wind composed by John Gürtler and Jan Miserre. At times I was a little lost as to what was going on, but it worked itself out for me as the film progressed; I believe it was a deliberate reflection of the confusion and alienation of the main character Ronan. Others may not agree with my rating of 9, but I have read and enjoyed the book 3 times now and I think it helped me enjoy the film.
A beautiful film that demands concentration
I think this is a great distillation of the human story in the book into a nearly 2 hour film. The main focus is on Ronan’s struggle with alcoholism and as a result the much broader description of Orkney and its natural environment in the book was inevitably diminished significantly.
